Farid Scoon is an accomplished attorney with 19 years practice experience, and a strong background in company, commercial, and land law and extensive experience and general practice in diverse areas of law including, probate, banking, and negligence.
He possesses excellent law office management and legal research skills, with practice experience in Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and the British Virgin Islands and adequate knowledge of company and commercial law and practice of New York and the United States Virgin Islands. He also has extensive experience in litigation, including large, complex, high profile cases.
He is licensed to practice in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, admitted 1992, Barbados, admitted 1993, and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court of the British Virgin Islands, admitted 1993. In addition, he is qualified for admission to the Law Society of England and Wales.
He is an associate fellow of the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute He was employed with De Vos & Co. of New York, New York and St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands as an Associate Attorney during the years 1993 to 1995. He is the co-authour of History and Comparison of USVI with British Virgin Islands: "Caribbean Tax Planning Opportunities for the Pacific Rim," with Lloyd De Vos and William L. Blum, Asia Law, December 1993. In 1995 he opened his own practice where he acted as the sole legal practitioner until 2005. That practice has since evolved into Scoons Attorneys and Counselors at Law.
